Different Inside

Different Inside

This illustration accompanies an article  about the physiological differences between men and women. The drawings inside the profiles are from diagrams of two different machines, implying that despite the similarities, the elements that compose the brain and body are assembled and function differently.

I love the ability cut paper has to communicate an idea simply and quickly! It requires a paring down to only the essential elements.

Hymn sketch

Hello, friends! It's been a day of tedious HTML work so I'm taking a breather to post this collage I made the other day. I'm in the exciting, stretching time of conceptualizing this new design project, so I get to make fun searching lines like this for a little while.

4 1/4" by 5 3/4" on plywood, old bits of sheet music and other found papers.

Floral tuxedos

Floral Tuxedos

I made this collage for last year's "Art For Food" auction in Providence, and it was bought by a couple who used it as inspiration for their baby's nursery decor. (Apologies for the blurry photo. I didn't get a chance to scan it or anything.)

The photo that I used for the penguin reference made me smile- it looked like three guys in penguin suits taking a casual stroll.

Androgyny

Androgyny

Illustration about androgyny! Each haircut flap hides a corresponding person' s name. Documented haircuts with some real and some invented names. I've retouched this piece since these photos were taken, but you get the idea.

Names read:

adam rachel stephen agness greg

sharon tabitha katie shane paul

"Testimony" show poster

Testimony Poster- print

Last spring I designed this poster for a group show themed "Testimony". To stay on budget we decided to photocopy the posters rather than getting them printed, so this was designed to stand up to some serious Xerox damage!

For the opening I did a big (21"x31") wintergreen transfer onto plywood. It came out a little blurred in spots, but not too bad
