Tonight I'm sipping on flavored coffee and filling my sketchbook with a new project.

Not a lot of my own projects to show lately- I've been spending most of my time applying for jobs and working on some freelance design jobs. It's good to be busy, though!
To Bolivia and back
Hi friends,
These past five weeks I've had the amazing opportunity to travel to Bolivia with a group of 18 design students to collaborate on projects with local artisans in a huge variety of materials including leather, wood, totora reed, alpaca yarn, bamboo... more new ideas than we could begin to explore in such a short time. With the help of our new artisan friends, however, we worked with lightning speed to develop a wide range of products by the end of the trip. We are all so pleased with the results and are many of us are making plans to return for a second dose as soon as possible!
Right now I'm working on getting myself back into the rhythm of life back in the States, unpacking (still), and working my way through hundreds of photos. Soon I will have plenty of stories and images and new products to share. Hang in there, dear readers....
In the meantime, get to know my dear friend and classmate Laurel (www.alaurelborealis.com) who is responsible for the above photo. She is amazing.

One at a time
It's good to rest.
fabric loves wood, wood loves fabric
This is a 15" drum lamp I designed and made this spring. It's a combination of wood veneer and vintage fabric. It was difficult to cut the wood shapes by hand, but I'm truly happy with how it turned out!
Lately I've been trying to get my bookmarks in order (folders are my friends). It's been so messy in there that it's been quite a while since I've seen some of those links. Here's a grouping of photos/photographers that tickle my imagination. And I'm not sure, but it's very likely that nearly all of these are from swiss-miss.

Skins and Homes
My friend Sarah shared this great artist with me who works in textiles: Freddie Robins
We especially like the knitted skins and a project called Knitted Homes of Crime, knitted replicas of houses of women murderers (murdresses?) from Great Britian.
In other news, my next project is a combination of blood, polar bears, and snowboards. Exciting? Maybe...
P.S. Don't go poking around for photos of polar bear attacks unless you have a nice strong stomach.
