New Website

It's here! I've been making lots of websites for clients, then realized that it had been a very long time since I'd given any attention to my own. All I can say is - finally! And two thumbs up to Squarespace for being awesome.

PeaceLove Studios

I'm so happy to announce that the new PeaceLoveStudios.com has been launched! This process has been a great collaboration between the team at PeaceLove, designers at Studio Pie, and developers at Trestian. To emphasize the artistic and community-building aspects of PeaceLove, I created an illustrated background filled with art supplies and a peaceful little world. I also created illustrations for the rollovers in the navigation bar, and icons scattered throughout the site. Take a look at the new website and let us know what you think!

Tidying up

website update
blog update

The other night I had an Arrested Development netflix marathon keep me company while I worked on some website edits; I ended up staying up way too late but now my blog is looking tidier and and more in line with my main website. Part of the process involved going back through all my old blog posts - here's how my site looked in 2009 and 2006. Personally, I'm loving this new clean look! Hope you do, too. Suggestions are always welcome. :)

Young Leaders Fellowship design & branding

YLF website

I recently teamed up with Tino Chow and Big New Ideas to create branding and some design pieces for Young Leaders Fellowship, a local non-profit we are involved with. We designed a logo, website, postcard and poster in record time!

I also had the pleasure of creating some illustrations for the website. I used a combination of tight pencil drawings and loose brushstrokes to convey the personality and spirit behind the organization.

In my line of work, I spend a lot of time figuring out how to visualize abstract ideas. Working out how to illustrate some of the programs offered by YLF was challenging, but in the end I was able to get the point across simply.

A new look

My website has needed a sprucing up for a while, and today it all came together, finally! Hope you like it. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting me by buying my prints! I'm constantly working to keep the store stocked with new prints, so be keeping an eye out.

Unifying images

I'm very excited to be working on a project for a talented woman named Sarah Salerno Thomas. More info to come, but for now I'd like to just share a few of the images I've been working on. Sarah does interactive performances with children in schools, museums, and libraries across the Northeast. The photos she has collected from her different performances vary slightly in lighting conditions, exposures, and image quality. This is fairly standard issue, and it can be a challenge to find a way to unify an array of images.

For Sarah's project, I've chosen to overlay the images with colored drops of paint. It creates a playful, exciting result. I love this technique and hope to be able to use it often- it's a very satisfying way to incorporate your hand into digital work.
