Finally finished this poster-sized piece! I assembled the background hills by hand, using layers of fabric and hundreds (thousands? who knows) of stitches. I'm planning to have this printed 18"x24" for the show next month- can't wait to see how it'll look!
Tufted titmouse
The tufted titmouse is a small songbird from North America. Their song is usually described as a whistled peter-peter-peter.
Flammulated owl
Another bird for Birds of a Feather. These owls are only 6 inches tall and their call is a series of deep single or double hoots.
prothonotary warbler
Another piece for Birds of a Feather show. Slowly making progress! I've got my eye on several other birds that will get a similar treatment to this prothonotary warbler. I'm picturing them all clustered together, each singing a slightly different song.
Uppercase Magazine
My illustrated album cover is featured in the new Uppercase! Click to see a preview of the entire issue. It really looks beautiful- well done Janine, and thanks for including me.

Grassy stitches
Here's a sneak-peek of a new piece I'm working on. I'm layering different fabrics – a minty lace, some linen I dyed, and a flowery print – to create rolling hills, and securing them to the canvas with tiny stitches. The canvas is 18" x 24" and I sat and stitched for nine straight hours. One hill to go still!
Birds of a Feather
You might have noticed this new piece that recently showed up in my portfolio:
This piece is for an upcoming show called Birds of a Feather. I am so excited about this new work, so ready to get these ideas out! The show will be in November at West Side Arts, so as the months progress you can expect to see lots of new stuff inspired by birds, calligraphy, and (of course) fabric. I'll be showing along side three other lovely ladies: Allison Cole, Jyll Ethier-Mullen, and Lauren Minco. So excited! Right now I am stitching individual blades of grass on rolling fabric hills- and loving it. I'll post a sneak-peek soon!
