Grassy stitches
Here's a sneak-peek of a new piece I'm working on. I'm layering different fabrics – a minty lace, some linen I dyed, and a flowery print – to create rolling hills, and securing them to the canvas with tiny stitches. The canvas is 18" x 24" and I sat and stitched for nine straight hours. One hill to go still!
Birds of a Feather
You might have noticed this new piece that recently showed up in my portfolio:
This piece is for an upcoming show called Birds of a Feather. I am so excited about this new work, so ready to get these ideas out! The show will be in November at West Side Arts, so as the months progress you can expect to see lots of new stuff inspired by birds, calligraphy, and (of course) fabric. I'll be showing along side three other lovely ladies: Allison Cole, Jyll Ethier-Mullen, and Lauren Minco. So excited! Right now I am stitching individual blades of grass on rolling fabric hills- and loving it. I'll post a sneak-peek soon!

I am beyond happy to be posting these new illustrations from my breezy porch on an 80 degree day! I'm looking forward to many more days like this, hopefully some with the scenery from these SO Rhode Island illustrations. What a cozy lighthouse- it is probably the only view I'd take over the tree-filled one I have right now.

Domestic Violence
A couple months ago I was invited to participate in a show called "Imago Fem" at the West Side Arts Gallery. The purpose of the show was to advocate for women and girls and promote awareness of V-Day. I created a piece about domestic violence, using a discarded window frame and replacing the glass with fabric panels. Each panel was embroidered with a depiction of life for someone trapped in a violent environment.

Locavore illustration
This collage features small map pieces connected by a red thread. Published in Providence Monthly with a story about a new iPhone app called Locavore that connects you to local foods. It shows the locations of local farmers markets and keeps tabs on which foods are currently in-season.
